I guess it's become a tradition. Once again it's Oscar night and I've only seen one of the Best Picture nominees, and it's one of the...well it's not one of the frontrunners.
Last year, the only film nominated for Best Picture I saw was Gravity, which racked up awards but still, you always knew it would never win best picture. The year before, it was Django Unchained, and the day a Tarantino film wins Best Picture at the Academy Awards, well, I'll have to think of something really bizarre to do. I love his movies but they have no chance.
This year, the only Best Picture-nominated movie I saw was The Grand Budapest Hotel due to a combination of work, derby and mysterious nightly Internet outages. I tried to watch Birdman the other day but the copy I found has the worst possible sound quality and it also stopped working about 13 minutes in. The trials of illegally watching movies that were never released in your area in the first place so you have no other choice.
I'm going to try and watch the ceremony, but knowing my family, they won't want to, so I might just end up following the New York Times liveblog of it.
